In that order. Usually. Maybe. Probably not, according to my wife

Let me regale you with a story of a man. He started off as a boy (obviously), who had humble beginnings. He started off going to a castle to be told the Princess was elsewhere, farming the Mazda Demio prize from the Sunday Cup Championship and having a kitted out GTO within hours of starting and morphing the Sunken Gelnika enemies to max out stats. He moved on up to rubber banding the controller for endurance races because no sane person could do it in one sitting, filling the Sphere Grid with Luck Nodes to max at 255 even though there’s 0 returns after about 140, becoming the fabled Sneak Thief by backtracking those pesky monks and being told they’re masterworks by Caxton for the gazillionth time. This continued on for some time. The boy grew into a man and the games changed, but the love for gaming did not.

Simpler Times

Fast forward to current day, where the responsibilities have increased tenfold, but the passion for gaming has morphed in mysterious ways. He’s grown to enjoy trophy hunting and the pursuit of those digital accolades that may not matter to some, but can be awesome knowing one has fulfilled this checklist of sorts that the devs have made. His gaming palate has broadened to include many genres that would have been foreign to him as a child. Speaking of child, one of his biggest hopes is that his two small children can grow to see the enjoyment and passion he has for it, and that they join his party to save worlds, fight Gods, get rare loot and grind EXP. I am thou, though art I…I mean that him is me, I am him.

Music Racer, first game I played and beat with my daughter

My name is Anthony, I’m 31 years old and have been gaming for as long as I can remember. I started off with the NES and SNES, but most of my fondest memories were with the Playstation 1 and 2. I’ve owned some [insert name of random Nintendo Handheld] here and there of course for pretty much just whatever Pokémon game was the newest gen at that time, but the Playstation brand has been my staple ecosystem (R.I.P brief few months I was an Xbox 360 owner). I decided to create a gaming themed Instagram page to be as a social outlet for my gaming interests, and in the process connect with others who shared similar interests. Cursed be those characters limits of IG, I decided to create this site to grow that outlet and network.

But why the emphasis on Gamer Dad?

– Someone

I think that gaming as an adult provides a set of challenges that we weren’t accustomed to as kids. I can’t tell you how many times my wife has come home at night from work and I’ve passed out in my chair, controller in hand. Now, the kids add a lovely (chaotic) twist to the formula. I think many people wonder how is it possible to continue gaming when you have kids, family, etc. It’s tough, but it’s all about balance and utilizing the proper downtime. Sure I might sacrifice some sleep here and there, but gaming has always been my stress outlet and my escape when I’m down and out, not to mention good ol’ entertainment. It’s a hobby and passion I don’t see myself ever giving up, so I find new ways such as this to embrace it even further. I only hope that my kids will come along for the ride and that they can see how magical, emotional, awe-inspiring and thought-provoking it can truly be.
